The Niger State Commissioner of Police, CP Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman, has announced the arrest of four suspects in possession of 295 rounds of live ammunition and an AK-47 rifle at a poultry farm in Sabon-Wuse, Tafa local government area of the state.

CP Danmamman revealed this while parading the suspects in Minna, stating that the arrests were made based on credible information received by the police.

The suspects, identified as Nuhu Abdullahi, Yahuza Isah, and Mohammed Adamu, all from Dadin-Kowa Sabon-Wuse, Tafa LGA, were apprehended at the poultry farm where the weapons were found.

โ€œOn February 18, 2024, at about 1410 hrs, based on information received that one Nuhu Abdullahi of a poultry farm in the Sabon-Wuse area of Tafa LGA was suspected to be among the hoodlums terrorizing the area.

โ€œImmediately upon receiving the information, the police operatives attached to Tafa Div, with the Tactical Support Team (TST) led by the DPO Tafa, mobilized to the poultry farm along Garam/Bwari road via Sabon-Wuse and arrested the suspects in connection to the information,โ€ he stated.

He further explained that an immediate search conducted on the premises of the farm led to the discovery of live ammunition and the AK-47 rifle hidden in different bags of grains within the farm.

During interrogation, Nuhu Abdullahi confessed that his elder brother, Ibrahim Abdullahi, sent him a sum of N295,000 to purchase arms and ammunition for nefarious activities in Mangu, Plateau State.

He said Ibrahim Abdullahi was also arrested and confessed to the crime.

Yahuza Isah was identified as the one who aided and connected Nuhu Abdullahi to Mohammed Adamu, a vigilante man in Sabon-Wuse.

Adamu claimed to have purchased about one hundred and eighty units of the ammunition at the rate of N2,200 each from one Rabiu in Kagarko, Kaduna State, and took delivery in Jere, Kaduna State.

Another suspect, Commander Dahiru of the vigilante, who supplied the remaining quantity, is currently at large.

He added that efforts were ongoing to arrest both Commander Dahiru and Rabiu to unravel the source of the ammunition.
