The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has deployed 2,000 personnel in Ikono, Ini, and Ibiono Ibom local government areas of the state for the federal constituency by-election, scheduled for February 3.

Police Public Relations Officer SP Odiko Macdon revealed this in a statement issued on Friday in Uyo, the state capital.

Macdon said there would be restrictions on movement from 7 am to 2 pm in the affected local government areas, adding that only INEC staff, health workers, and security agents are allowed to move about.

He called on residents of the areas to come out to exercise their right to vote without any fear of molestation or intimidation.

He, however, cautioned perpetrators of violence to steer clear of the election venues or face the consequences of their actions.
