The chairman of the Police Service Commission, Dr Solomon Arase, said the commission has set up a situation room to monitor the ongoing recruitment exercise.

Ikechukwu Ani, the head of the commissionโ€™s Press and Public relations, said in a statement that retired Inspector General of Police Arase presided over the setting up of the recruitment situation room at the headquarters of the commission in Abuja.

Arase reportedly said: โ€œAlthough there were the usual early teething problems, reports from the Commissionโ€™s team lead in the states confirmed that the exercise was up and already running. The Commission is handling the credentials screening while the officers of the Nigeria Police Force are handling the physical.โ€

According to the statement, officers from the Ministry of Police Affairs, the Federal Character Commission, the Police Trust Fund and police colleges are also on ground at the venues.

The screening exercise is the first formal contact between the candidates and the officers of the commission and the police.

Arase also commended the synergy amongst the institutions that make up the Police Recruitment Board and promised that the commission will ensure that the entire exercise will be a success.

In the meantime, the Police Service Commission has provided dedicated telephone lines and other social media platforms for Nigerians to complain or seek necessary information on the ongoing recruitment exercise.

โ€œThe screening exercise continues tomorrow, Tuesday, January 9th, 2024,โ€ the statement declared.
