The Kano State Police command has alerted residents about intelligence reports regarding terrorists’ plan to launch attacks targeted at public gatherings in strategic locations across the state.

OsunDailyNG reports that the police spokesperson in the state, Abdullahi Kiyawa, made this known in a statement on Friday.

Kiyawa asked residents to exercise caution and avoid crowded areas until further notice to enable security agencies to identify and neutralize potential threats.

The statement reads, “The Kano State Police Command in liaison with other security agencies has received intelligence reports of suspected terrorists planning to launch attacks on public gatherings in strategic locations within Kano State.

“In response, we hereby urge residents to exercise caution and avoid crowded places and environments until further notice as a preventive measure to enable security operatives identify and dislodge possible attackers.”

In other news, Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has allocated 7,158 red goats to 2,386 women across the state as a form of empowerment.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa, announced that this distribution signifies the commencement of the second phase of the women empowerment initiative under the Livestock Fattening Programme, part of the Kano Agro-Pastoral Development Project.

Dawakin-Tofa highlighted that the initiative, which has a budget of ₦2.3 billion, is designed to alleviate poverty and enhance economic self-sufficiency.

He noted that the program encompasses the provision of livestock to women in all 44 local government areas of Kano.

Each participant received three goats to aid their ventures in livestock entrepreneurship.

The governor reiterated his administration’s dedication to combating poverty through innovative and inclusive strategies.

The spokesperson also mentioned that future phases of the program will include the distribution of 1,342 cows and 1,822 rams to women and youth.
