Plateau State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr Lawandi Datti, has warned youths against jungle justice, advising them to report their concerns to constituted authorities.
Datti stated this when he visited the family of the late Fwinbe Gofwan, who was gruesomely murdered by a mob in Jos on September 25.
Gofwan, a minibus driver, was murdered by a mob over an allegation.
The commissioner urged the youths to be law-abiding citizens and avoid taking laws into their hands.
He applauded the Nigeria Police Force for immediately arresting one of the suspects.
Datti extended his condolences to the deceasedโs family and the entire Plateau youth.
Father of the deceased, Mr Thomas Gofwan, thanked the commissioner for the condolence visit, which he described as consoling.
Gofwan, however, called on the Plateau Government to ensure that the perpetrators of the heinous crime were brought to justice.
Elder John Gobak, former Secretary to the Government of Plateau, described the murder of Gofwan as a devastating episode.
Gobak, who is the friend of the deceased father, said that the late Gofwan was an industrious and receptive young man who cared about people.
โHe loves people. Heโs always relating well with people, and he was an amiable personality that was ready to do anything to assist others.
โGovernment should deal ruthlessly with those arrested in accordance with the provisions of the law to serve as deterrence to others,โ he urged.
