Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden has been named the Professional Footballersโ Association Menโs Player of the Year award winner earlier today, August 20, 2024.
While Phil Foden won the major menโs category of the award, Chelsea winger Cole Palmer won the Young Player of the Year award.
This marks the first time since the 2009-2010 season that both of these prestigious awards have been won by English players.
Fodenโs outstanding performance, with 19 goals in 35 top-flight appearances, contributed significantly to Manchester Cityโs historic fourth successive Premier League win. Additionally, at just 23 years old, he became the youngest player to have won six league titles.
This is the first time that Foden has won the PFA Player of the Year award, after winning the Best Young Player twice in the past.
Fodenโs remarkable achievements highlight his significant contributions to Manchester Cityโs success, including his 18 trophies with the club.
On the other hand, Palmer, 22, who joined Chelsea from Manchester City last summer was the Bluesโ best player with 22 goals and 11 assists in 33 Premier League games.
In the womenโs categories, Manchester Cityโs Khadija Shaw secured the Player of the Year award, and Manchester Unitedโs Grace Clinton was honoured as the Young Player of the Year.
