The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oriade Local Government Area (LG) held its highly anticipated Local Government general meeting at Ward 11 Ijeda/Iloko, marking a significant event in the political calendar of the region. The meeting, which saw a large turnout of party members and stakeholders, was a testament to the unity and strength of the PDP in Oriade LG.
In his welcome address, Hon. Prince Samuel Adeloye, the PDP Chairman of Oriade LG, expressed his gratitude to the state working committee led by Hon. Sunday Bisi, the PDP Chairman in Osun State, for their unwavering support for Oriade PDP and the state at large. Hon. Adeloye’s words set a positive tone for the meeting, highlighting the collaborative spirit within the party.
The meeting was hosted by Ward 11 Ijeda/Iloko, the political ward of Hon. Prince Bayo Ogungbangbe (FCSSM), the Honourable Commissioner for Cooperatives and Empowerment. As the Chief Host, Hon. Ogungbangbe welcomed the State Chairman and other political functionaries to Oriade LG. He took the opportunity to outline several programs launched by the government to empower Osun residents through cooperatives and empowerment initiatives, benefiting both the state and Osun indigenes in Abuja and the Northern Region.
Hon. Ayodeji Areola, a prominent figure in the political space of Oriade LG and the PRO of the party in the state, anchored the program. He applauded all stakeholders for the large turnout of party members and encouraged even greater participation in future meetings.
High Chief Dele Faseru, a prominent leader of the party in Ijesha North Federal Constituency, emphasized the importance of unity and love among party members and stakeholders. His message resonated with the attendees, reinforcing the need for solidarity within the party.
High Chief Ayo Olayinka, a prominent leader of the party, commended the State Chairman and the state working committee for their efforts in strengthening the party structure in Osun State. His commendation was echoed by Hon. Mayowa Adejorin, the Honourable Commissioner for Environment, who urged the Oriade LG leadership to maintain the spirit of oneness between Oriade LG PDP and Obokun LG PDP.
Hon. Kolapo Alimi, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, praised the current administration in the state for its impactful projects. He urged party faithful to continue spreading the good news of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s achievements, cautioning the public against the fake news and propaganda of the opposition.
In a significant gesture, the Osun House of Assembly member from Oriade LG pledged to donate 6 million Naira for the party’s LG meetings, with each ward receiving 500,000 Naira to support the hosting of these meetings.
The flag-off event took place at Iloko Ijesa Market Square, with the PDP State Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, in attendance. He expressed his appreciation for the leadership of the party in Oriade LG and acknowledged High Chief Dele Faseru for his fatherly role and steadfast support for the party.
During the visit, the State Chairman led party stakeholders and political appointees to the palace of HRM Oba Akeem Ogungbangbe, the Owaloko of Iloko Ijesa, to pay homage to the monarch. The monarch lauded the life-changing projects embarked on by Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration and urged political appointees to remain dedicated to serving the people selflessly.
The monarch also called on the state government, through Hon. Tola Faseru, the Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, to invest more in agriculture and utilize various farm settlements for food production. He emphasized the need to resuscitate Esa Odo Dam to provide an irrigation system for year-round farming and to empower young men with industrial boreholes for irrigation services, creating jobs and reducing poverty and unemployment.
The event was graced by several prominent leaders, commissioners, and other appointees, including Hon. Ajeigbe, Honourable Commissioner for Government House and Protocol, Hon. Prince Sola Adewumi, Chairman of Osun Internal Revenue Service, Hon. Wale Bolorunduro Board Chairman of Osun Living Trust Mortgage Bank, Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary Healthcare Hon. Dr Michael Oyerinde, Hon. Taiwo Adeyekun, the immediate past caretaker Chairman of Oriade LG, Hon. Asaju, the immediate past Caretaker Chairman of Oriade South LCDA, Hon. Iyabo Gbeleyi, the immediate past Oriade LG Council Deputy Chairman, Prince Adesoji Baderin the former Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Fapohunda Seun, Mama Onawumi, Chief Mrs. Olufunke Ayoade (Yeye Tutu of Egboro Land) and other notable leaders of the party across the Local Government.
The successful meeting underscored the PDP’s commitment to unity, empowerment, and progress in Oriade LG and Osun State as a whole.
