Another top shot of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State, Samuel Eze Nwosu, has defected to the All Progressive Congress (APC).
The defection took place on Saturday at Obehie Central School, Ukwa West LGA of the State, during the reception ceremony organised by Ukwa West APC stakeholders for Abia State Commissioner in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Eruba Dimgba.
The defection of Nwosu is coming just ten days after a former two-term member of Abia State House of Assembly representing Ukwa West, Hon. Chimezie Nwubani also defected from the PDP to join APC.
Explaining his reason for joining the broom party, the new APC man, Nwosu, said he left his former party after being its member for 24 years, noting that he had several consultations with critical political stakeholders within and outside Ukwaland, before dumping PDP.
He promised to use his rich political experience and value to make the APC stronger in Ukwa West and Abia State at large.
In his speech during the grand reception, the Abia State Commissioner representing Abia State in NDDC Board, Eruba Dimgba, said the Commission had awarded contracts for Ngwaiyiekwe-Ogwe road, Owaza-Imo river road, Uzuaku-144 Battalion road as well as restored electricity to some communities.
The NDDC Commissioner thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu for his reappointment for the job.
Receiving the PDP chieftain, Samuel Eze Nwosu, into the umbrella party, the Chairman of the APC in Abia State, Kingsley Ononogbu, said that his party was becoming stronger and in every part of the state.
But a chieftain of the PDP from Ukwa land, Ozioma Sidney Kanu, told DAILY POST that the PDP was still stronger than any other party in the Ukwa East and West, having won one House of Reps seat, two House of Assembly seats as well as producing the present Abia State Chairman of the PDP.
