The Oyo State Fire Service has confirmed the fire incident that occurred at the residence of a former governor of the state, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala.
DAILY POST reports that the Alao-Akala’s residence was gutted by fire in the early hours of Monday.
The house is located in the Randa area of Ogbomoso.
Alao -Akala was the governor of the state between 2007 and 2011.
Confirming the incident, the General Manager of Oyo State Fire Service, Akinyinka Akinyemiju said that the agency received a distress call around 7:57 am on Monday, after which officers immediately swung into action to stop the fire.
He maintained that one person was rescued while the fire was still raging.
Akinyemiju, in a short statement made available to DAILY POST on Monday, said, “We received a distress call around 7:57hrs of a house on fire at randa area, Ogbomoso.
“We left the station at exactly 07:59hrs, on getting there, we met the house fully engulfed by fire and roof off.
“We immediately swung into action and we were able to rescue one person while the fire is still on during the course of fire fighting, one person was reported and handed over to CSP Kehinde Abayomi, the DPO Arowomole Police Station.
“We returned back to the station at 12:42hrs.”
