No fewer than one hundred and seven (107) Nigerians have been repatriated back to the country from Libya, OsunDaily News learnt.

This was confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday in Lagos by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

The agency revealed that the Nigerian citizens who have been stranded in Tripoli were received at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Cargo Wing, Ikeja, late Tuesday aboard Al Buraq Air Boeing 737-800 with registration number 5A-DMG.

NEMA Director-General, Mustapha Ahmed, who officially received the returnees on behalf of the Federal Government said the returnees comprised 53 males, 52 females and two infants.

OsunDaily News understands that Ahmed was represented by the Chief Relief and Rehabilitation Officer, Mr Aziz Afunku, to receive the citizens.

Recall that the International Organisation for Migration, with the support of international partners, have been assisting stranded Nigerians in Libya to return home since 2017.

Meanwhile, former Presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has alleged that the issue of President-elect, Bola Tinubuโ€™s Guinean citizenship is a deliberate attempt to divert attention over his whereabouts.

OsunDaily News reports that the social-political activist made the claims on Facebook as he raised concern over the whereabouts of the former governor of Lagos State.

Recall that a statement issued by Tinubuโ€™s media office, Tunde Rahman, in March, said Tinubu travelled to France, where he would plan his transition programme.

However, his long absence from the country has generated questions about his whereabouts from the opposition parties.

Speaking on the development, Reno lamented that Tinubu has not made any public appearance in the last month and Nigerians should not be distracted by the issue of the Guinea passport.

Reno noted that anyone who has evidence of dual citizenship should take the issue to court, and Nigerians should focus on Tinubuโ€™s whereabouts.

He added that Tinubuโ€™s camp might have deliberately leaked the passport to distract Nigerians on his whereabouts.

He wrote, โ€œWhere is Tinubu? He has not been seen in public for a month. That is the question we should be asking.

โ€œLet us not be distracted by passports. If anyone has such evidence, take it to court not to social media. What social media should focus on now is Tinubuโ€™s whereabouts!

โ€œI actually suspect that the passport was deliberately leaked by Tinubuโ€™s people to divert attention from any questions about his whereabouts.

โ€œIt is a red herring. They know it wonโ€™t stand in court. But it has achieved the purpose it was meant to serve. Distraction! So again, I ask, where is Tinubu?โ€
