The Labour Party, LP, on Tuesday described Edo State as the capital of its supporters, the Obidient Movement in Nigeria.
LP said Edo State is the support base of the Obidient Movement, adding that in the last two years, Edo has remained the capital of the Obidient Movement.
Spokesman of the party, Obiorah Ifoh, said Edo State has contributed over 75 per cent of the total votes cast at the last presidential election.
Ifoh spoke during the campaign road walk in major cities of Edo to create for its governorship candidate, Olumide Akpata.
A statement he released reads: “Edo State is the capital of the Obidient Movement in Nigeria. It is our support base, and we have the best candidate for the election. It shows clearly during the last general election, when the Labour Party won over 75 per cent of the total votes cast in the presidential election.
“The support is still there and we gave the people the candidate they demanded. We therefore insist on fair play in the conduct of the election.”
The Obidient Movement, which was birthed in the build-up to the 2023 general election, comprises young Nigerians who see the hope of a new Nigeria in the candidacy of LP Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi.
