Chukwudi Eke Mba, the Chief Press Secretary, CPS to Abia State Deputy Governor, has dismissed reports on social media, claiming that Governor Alex Otti and his Deputy, Ikechuckwu Emetu are presently in a cold war.

The CPS, who made the dismissal in a press release he signed, said the reports which emanated from a known content creator was total falsehood created to destroy the cordial and fledgling relationship existing between Otti and his Deputy.

Eke Mba also denied the allegations in the online reports, which claimed that he, the(CPS) is a PDP member, insisting that he is still in charge of his duties as CPS and also a card-carrying member of the LP.

Eke Mba, who claimed that his phone lines had been inundated with phone calls and text messages concerning the story, appealed to Abians and the general public to disregard the reports, intended to stir negativity, conflict and tension, by the online publisher.

He said that the publisher of the story is a known PDP member.

The press release read in part:

โ€ I have been inundated with calls and text messages this evening over a deliberate false attempt to cause disaffection between the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, and his loyal Deputy, Engr. Ikechukwu Lekwachi Emetu, FNSE, proclaiming โ€œa cold warโ€ between them.

โ€œAgain, his uninformed conscience failed him by attributing me to being a member of the PDP. He is a well known actor in promoting content/posts with the intention to stir negativity and conflict, sow discord and create unnecessary tension. However, his intent and that of his paymasters is already dead on arrival.

โ€ I want to take this opportunity to assure all Abia indigenes, residents and friends that the working relationship between Governor Alex Otti and Engr Ikechukwu Emetu remains not only cordial but also highly effective for the long awaited Abia development. The long standing harmonious working relationship between them cannot be overemphasized as seen in their glaring shared common commitment to the betterment of our dear State.

โ€œLet there be no doubt that our Governor and Deputy Governor are working diligently and harmoniously to serve you. Our stateโ€™s interests remain at the forefront of their actions, and we can look forward to continued progress under their leadership.

โ€œI remain a proud card-carrying member of the Labour Party and dutifully discharged every obligation given to me towards ensuring the overwhelming victory of the Labour Party at all levels. My activities before, during and after the 2023 elections are crystal clear to the knowledge of all and sundry. I am not a member of PDP and I reject being oneโ€, Eke Mba said.

It would be recalled that on Thursday, some social media platforms were awash with stories which claimed that Abia State Governor, Alex Otti and his deputy, Ikechuckwu Emetu were in a cold war.

The report had alleged that the governor had instructed his deputy to sack his Chief Press Secretary, (Chukwudi Eke Mba) for allegedly being a PDP member.

The report further claimed that one of the key appointees of the governor now performs some duties that should have been done by the deputy governor.
