The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has announced the approval of the payment of arrears of salaries for retired judges in the state.

The state government also expressed readiness to collaborate with and provide maximum support to both serving and retired judges.

Olawale Rasheed, spokesperson to Governor Ademola Adeleke, in a statement, apologised for the alleged neglect by previous administrations.

According to the statement, โ€œI am not just committed to clearing such inherited salary matters, I am also working to provide requisite logistic support for serving judicial officers. The judiciary must be provided with the tools for efficient justice administration and adjudication.โ€

Adeleke reassured judicial officers that their well-being remained a priority and urged the bar and the bench to remain focused and undistracted by agents of destabilization.

Governor Adeleke warned against the dissemination of fake news on social media, emphasizing that his administration has not attempted to gag the judiciary.

He addressed recent sponsored social media publications insinuating a strained relationship between the current administration and the stateโ€™s judiciary, stating, โ€œThe present Administration in Osun State has as its number one priority workersโ€™ welfare, how much more the welfare of the judicial officers of the State, whether serving or retired.โ€

He clarified that his administration is actively addressing financial obligations owed to judicial officers, both serving and retired, and emphasized the commitment to an improved condition of service for judicial officers.

The governor declared, โ€œOur commitment is to an improved condition of service for our judicial officers so that none of our serving judicial officers will have to work without the necessary incentives to enhance their performance, and none of our retired judicial officers should live in hassle and pains.โ€
