The Commissioner for Cooperatives and Empowerment, Prince Bayo Ogungbangbe has commended the leadership of the Igbekele Cooperative Society for transparency and accountability in running the affairs of the society.
Ogungbangbe made the commendation in Ile-Ife at the empowerment programme organised by the Igbekele Oluwa cooperative society.
According to him, this society is second to non in terms of empowerment programmes and welfare of members. I had never seen this type of society as regard membership drive and commitment of the leadership to the welfare of members.
He assured the society of the state government support, added that government is aware of their existence and the roles the society had been playing in empowering members which is part of the cardinal programmes of the state government.
“I am happy to be here today and part of this society. This society is a formidable and vibrant one which this government takes seriously. Our door is open for you. The Governor will hear about you. We are going to support you”, Ogungbangbe declared.
The Igbekele Oluwa Multipurpose Cooperatives Society is a prominent cooperative society that spans across the 31 local governments in Osun State and encompasses the six Southwestern states of Nigeria.
Speaking, the President of the society, Alhaji Bulihamin Abdullahi Olarewaju thanked the commissioner for the support given to cooperative societies in the state, stressing that his ministry has within short period changed cooperative societies for better.
He said that his society has made significant efforts in empowering its members, including the provision of a Trailer Truck worth 25 million naira, 15 Bajaj motorcycles worth 18 million naira, 50 Chest Freezer, and various other empowerment programs.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Cooperatives and Empowerment, Hon. Durojaye Isaac urged the society not to relent on its hoar in empowering its members, assuring them of the state administration support.
He emphasised the government’s commitment to supporting and fostering cooperative initiatives in the state.
