Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has reacted to the recent killings of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INECโs staff, one Emmanuel Igwe and the Ohaneze youth leaderโs father, Aja Okeafor, by suspected Fulani herdsmen in the state.
DAILY POST reports that the suspected herders also kidnapped the wife of the late INEC staff, and have been allegedly demanding ransom, though at the time of filing this report, she is yet to be freed.
The governor made this known while briefing newsmen in Abakaliki through the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Mr. Jude Okpor, shortly after the first executive council meeting.
According to him: โIt is heartbreaking, but I want to assure you that the governor will not leave any stone unturned to tackle this. This kind of issue cannot be discussed in public.
โThe governor has given the necessary directives, and I believe, in no distant time, the perpetrators of the heinous crime will be brought to justice,โ he stated.
