The National Population Commission, NPC, has called for the support of Nigerians in the ongoing Nigeria Demographic and Health Survey, NDHS.
The Federal Commissioner, NPC in Bauchi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Darazo, made the call at a news conference in Bauchi on Wednesday as part of activities to stimulate support for the 2023/2024 NDHS.
The last NDHS was held in 2018, the sixth conducted in Nigeria, following those implemented in 1990, 1999, 2003, 2008, and 2013.
The NPC implemented the NDHS in partnership with the National Malaria Elimination Programme, NMEP, of the Federal Ministry of Health.
The primary objective of the survey is to provide up-to-date estimates of basic demographic and health indicators.
Specifically, the NDHS collected information on fertility, awareness and use of family planning methods, breastfeeding practices, nutritional status of women and children, maternal and child health, as well as adult and childhood mortality.
