The Nigeria Port Authority, NPA, and World Bank are working on a partnership towards revamping Nigeriaโs decaying port infrastructure.
Managing Director of NPA, Mohammed Koko, disclosed this on Tuesday through his official X handle after meeting the World Bank team led by Alicia Stephens and Aleksandar Stojanov.
According to him, Nigeriaโs port modernization remains a top priority.
โIn our bid to achieve port efficiency, I met with two members of the World Bank team, Alicia Maude Stephens and Aleksandar Stojanov, where we discussed our priority areas for support and assistance.
โOne of our top priorities is fixing the decaying port infrastructure with a low-cost fund to execute the port modernization programme.
โTrade and services remain one of the most sustainable ways of increasing revenue during an economic slowdown. To increase our share of trade, we must expedite the digitization process and equipment renewal.
โWe outlined how the World Bank can support us in strengthening the digital infrastructure, closing gaps, and enhancing the port user experience.โ
