DAILY POST reports that each lawmaker in the National Assembly received N160 million for a Toyota Land Cruiser SUV.
Some lawmakers have stressed that it is not new for government workers to be buying vehicles for official duties.
And the LP presidential candidate specifically spoke about the lawmakers being part of the sharing, saying he had a discussion with them on the matter.
โLet me start with the issue of Labour Party members in the House, I have actually discussed this issue with them. I heard that these vehicles are official cars,โ Obi said during a press conference in Abuja on Monday.
โWhich means they have to make use of them while in office. They are meant for official use so itโs not as if itโs their vehicles.
โThey are meant to use them while theyโre in the Senate but you know how thingsย work here. Itโs not going to be like that.
โBut what I tell people is that had Labour been in office[won the presidency] nobody would have contemplated that.
โYou shouldnโt even do the wrong thing and start correcting it. It should not even be mentioned in the first place.โ
