The Zamfara State chapters of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have joined the nationwide indefinite strike in compliance with the directive of the national leadership of the two bodies.
The leaders of the two labour unions told newsmen in Gusau, the state capital, that their decision to join the indefinite strike was to press home their demands.
The labour forces stated that the strike was embarked upon considering the economic hardship caused by the removal of fuel subsidy and the assault on the NLC president, Comrade Joe Ajaero, in Imo State recently.
DAILY POST observed that there was low compliance with the directives from the NLC and TUC national headquarters, with some workers still performing their jobs, others withdrew their services on Tuesday afternoon.
This medium visited the Yahaya Gusau Federal Secretariat and observed that a small number of staff were coming in and out of the Secretariat.
The state chairmen of NLC and TUC, Comrade Sani Halilu and Comrade Saidu Mudi, respectively, after addressing newsmen, moved to the State Secretariat, Jibril Bala Yakubu Secretariat, and other establishments to ensure compliance with the directive to down tools.
