The indefinite strike ordered by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) recorded partial compliance in Bauchi State on Tuesday.

DAILY POST reports that the strike was ordered by the NLC after its President, Joe Ajaero, was assaulted during a workers protest in Owerri, Imo State, by policemen.

It was observed that some workers defied NLCโ€™s directive as academic activities and business transactions continued unhindered in schools, hospitals and banks in the metropolis.

Some schools, like Government Day Junior Secondary School, Gwallameji, and Saโ€™adu Zungur Secondary School in Bauchi, continued with normal academic activities.

According to Abubakar Sadiq, an instructor at one of the schools, they havenโ€™t received any formal or written instructions regarding the strike.

Sadiq explained that since they are under the state government, they are awaiting a circular instructing them to participate in the strike. Until then, normal academic activities will continue.

However, the entrance gate of the State Secretariat was locked, with only members of NLC seen outside the premises.

The Chairman of the NLC in the state, Kabiru Inuwa, while addressing newsmen at the State Secretariat, said the unionโ€™s officials have gone around various establishments, including government offices, ministries, departments, and agencies, to ensure total compliance with the strike.

Inuwa said the industrial action achieved 75 per cent compliance in the state.
