The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso, has said that Nigerians spent $39.56 billion on education and medical tourism from 2010 to 2020.
Cardoso disclosed this when he appeared before the Nigerian lawmakers on Tuesday over the falling naira.
The apex bank boss revealed that over 100 Nigerian students studying abroad spent a sum of $28.5 billion outside the country between 2010 and 2020.
He also added that Nigerians spent $11.06 billion on medical tourism within the same period.
โForeign education expenses amounted to a substantial US$28.65 billion, as per the CBNsโ publicly available Balance of Payments Statistics,โ he said.
