The PUNCH: The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, has said insecurity may hamper elections in the North-West and South-East states. Yakubu said the insecurity in the country was concerning, noting that the security challenge which was hitherto restricted to the North-East region has now spread to other parts of the country.


The Guardian: Two weeks after the ban was lifted for presidential candidates to begin campaigns for Februaryโ€™s elections, the three leading political parties โ€“ All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) โ€“ are still in a fixed over the composition of their Presidential Campaign Councils (PCCs), slowing down what was anticipated to be a hectic season of rallies.


This Day: For the second time in a week, the meeting between the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, governors of the party, members of the partyโ€™s National Working Committee (NWC) and the disputed Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), yesterday, ended in deadlock.


The Nation: All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu yesterday laid before the party leadership the draft of his manifesto for next yearโ€™s election for review and approval. Members of the National Working Committee (NWC), the Progressives Governorsโ€™ Forum and the Presidential Campaign Council (PPC), which received the draft, resolved to work together for the victory of Tinubu, and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima.


Daily Trust: Barely four months to the 2023 general elections, a plot to remove the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, is being hatched by top political actors in the country, Daily Trust has gathered.
