OsunDailyNG looks at the top happenings making headlines on the front pages of Nigeria’s national newspapers today Tuesday 29th August 2023.

The PUNCH: The Federal Executive Council on Monday unfolded a three-year economic revival plan to address the social and economic challenges affecting the country. The inaugural cabinet meeting, which was held at the council chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, was presided over by President Bola Tinubu, who unveiled his vision for “economic growth, prosperity for all and ending poverty.”

The Guardian: Amid calls to reduce the cost of governance and curb borrowings to pay salaries, several state governors are still in the business of appointing a large retinue of aides, some of which are actually frivolous. ThisDay: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), yesterday, alleged that Nigeria was in dire straits and fast grinding to a halt under President Bola Tinubu and his All Progressives Congress (APC). In a statement by PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the party lamented that Nigeria was on the edge of a precipice under the Tinubu-led APC government. It said the administration lacked the acceptability and followership of citizens.

The Nation: An economic revival plan aimed at ensuring a new lease of life for Nigerians was released yesterday by the Federal Government. The plan includes bold economic reform, borrowing avoidable, foreign and domestic investment drive, restoration of national security, food security, job creation and promotion of ccountability.

Daily Trust: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to achieve the targets of reviving the economy to make life more bearable for the people. The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, presented the “Roadmap for the economy” which was considered at the maiden federal cabinet meeting presided over by the president at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
