Immediately after the military ousted President Mohamed Bazoum, on July 26, West African leaders, and indeed world leaders, condemned the usurpation of constitutional rule in the West African country and called for its restoration.

The delegation which was led by former Nigeria military head of state,General Abdulsalami Abubakar met with the junta leader, General Abdourahamane Tchiani
Daily Trust: General Abdourahamane Tchiani, leader of the Niger junta, has said the army will hand over power to the civilian government within the next three years. He stated this in a televised broadcast on Saturday night.
