OsunDailyNG looks at the top happenings making headlines on the front pages of Nigeria’s national newspapers today Friday 28th July 2023.

The PUNCH: The Senate will, on Monday, commence the screening of the ministerial nominees submitted to it by President Bola Tinubu on Thursday. This is just as indications emerged that the President will create new ministries and form his full cabinet in two weeks.

The Guardian: As summer travels rev up globally and one of the busiest periods in the post-pandemic era in sight, overseas holidays are fast becoming a luxury that many Nigerians can no longer afford. Despite inflation and airfares surging past pay grades and holiday savings, the Lagos and Abuja international airports are still packed and international jumbo jets full. In their cabins are over 40 per cent of Nigerian flights that are now booked from neighbouring countries and overseas – in Nigerians’ desperate efforts to beat the airfare inflation trap, but with attendant revenue loss to local travel agencies and Nigerian economy.

The Nation: The President was painstaking in his choice of ministerial nominees, the Presidency said yesterday. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s list of 28 would-be ministers was made available by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during plenary yesterday.

Daily Trust: The long-awaited ministerial list was on Thursday sent by President Bola Tinubu to the Senate for screening and confirmation. However, the list, which came barely 24 hours before the constitutionally provided deadline contains nominees from only 25 states, excluding 11 others, among them the president’s home state, Lagos and also Kano. Others excluded from the list are Adamawa, Bayelsa, Gombe, Kebbi, Plateau, Osun, Yobe, and Zamfara.

Thank you for reading, that is all for today, see you again tomorrow for a review of Nigerian newspapers.
