Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian Newspapers:

1. Director General, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mustapha Habib Ahmed has said that the recent release of water from the Cameroon Lagdo dam will cause more flood disasters. The states to be affected are Taraba, Benue, Nasarawa, Kogi, Anambra, Edo, Delta and Bayelsa, with Adamawa already affected.

2. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has denied withdrawing from the appeal process in the ongoing Kano Governorship election petition case. Mr Sam Olumekun, National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee of INEC said this on Saturday night in a statement.

3. The Federal Government has suspended the N-Power programme indefinitely. It said the decision was a result of some irregularities within the scheme, noting that an investigation has been launched into the utilization of funds since the program began.

4. Palestinian armed group Hamas has launched an attack against Israel. The attack code-named “Operation Al-Aqsa Flood”, is the most serious escalation since Israel and Hamas fought an 11-day war in 2021. Hamas said it had fired 5,000 rockets, while Israel confirmed that the group’s fighters had entered its territory.

5. The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), says it is now ready to negotiate with the Federal Government on referendum. IPOB in a statement by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, on Saturday, alleged that the group had lost over 5,000 members and properties worth over $1bn as a result of the extreme use of force from the Nigerian security forces.

6. The former chairman, Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities, Prof. Samuel Edoumiekumo, is dead. A source close to the family of the deceased confided in our correspondent on Saturday evening. Edoumiekumo, who was the immediate past VC of the Niger Delta University, Bayelsa State, was said to have died on Friday night following a brief illness.

7. The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has asked those it called outsiders fighting the party to steer clear and stop meddling in its internal affairs. Addressing a news conference in Abuja, Ag. Deputy National Chairman, Prince Nwaeze Onu, said despite the crisis in the party, the commitment of NNPP to enthroning democracy and all its dividends was unhindered.

8. Terrorists have reportedly kidnapped over 30 farmers in the early hours of Saturday in Chikuri community of Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State. A resident, Dogara Peter, who confirmed the sad incident on Saturday, said his mother and sister were among the victims. According to him, the victims were abducted while working in Maikudi’s farms.

9. Abia State Governor, Alex Otti has dedicated his tribunal Court victory to God and Abians and has advised his opponents to sheath their swords and join hands with him to develop the State. The Governor, who was reacting to the victory in his Nvosi country home on Saturday, in Isiala Ngwa South LGA, thanked Abians for their massive support before, during and after the election.

10. A former federal lawmaker in the House of Representatives, Ismail Inah Hussein has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC) in Kogi State. Hussein, who represented Idah Federal Constituency in Kogi State, announced his defection on Friday in Ajaka, Igalamela-Odolu Local Government Area at a campaign rally organized by the APC.
