The federal government has revealed plans to begin the domestic manufacturing of in-vitro diagnostics, IVDs, generic pharmaceuticals, vaccines, and other medical devices critical to unlocking Nigeriaโs healthcare value chain.
The Minister of Health, Muhammad Ali Pate, disclosed this through his official X account on Wednesday.
He stated that Tinubuโs administration is committed to stimulating local production of in vitro diagnostics and biologics in Nigeria.
โWe are moving forward in 2024 to unlock Nigeriaโs healthcare value chains, inspired by Mr Presidentโs @officialABAT leadership.
โDomestic manufacturing of in-vitro diagnostics (IVDs), generic pharmaceuticals, vaccines, biologics, and medical devices is critical to advancing the health and wellbeing of all Nigerians.
โPart of Mr Presidentโs @officialABAT aim in approving the โUnlocking Healthcare Value-Chainโ Initiativeโ, as part of Nigeriaโs Health Sector Renewal Programme, is to optimize end-to-end R&D pathways for addressing priority diseases in Nigeria.
The development comes barely a month after Tinubu approved the appointment of Abdu Mukhtar to serve as the National Coordinator of the Presidential Unlocking Healthcare Value-Chain Initiative.
