The Federal Government said it will soon set up a committee to select a new crop of ambassadors to replace those that have been recalled.
Alkasim Abdulkadir, Special Assistant on Media and Communications Strategy to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, made this disclosure in an interview with newsmen in Abuja.
Abdulkadir said the selection of the new ambassadors would require wide-ranging consultations with relevant stakeholders.
According to him, all the recalled ambassadors have returned to the country, contrary to reports that most of them have been unable to return due to financial constraints.
DAILY POST recalls that President Bola Tinubu, on September 2, 2023, recalled all the countryโs ambassadors, both career and non-career.
They were asked to return to the country on or before October 31, 2023.
Nigeria has no fewer than 300 foreign missions.
The directive, according to the presidentโs spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, was a sequel to a careful study of the present state of affairs at Nigerian consulates, offices, and embassies across the world.
