Following the invasion of the Adamawa State Police Headquarters, the Nigerian Army has relieved Brig Gen Mohammed Gambo of his duties as the Commander of the 23 Armoured Brigade, Yola.

DAILY POST reports that the invasion, which occurred last month, resulted in the tragic loss of lives, including army personnel and a police inspector.

Gambo, who had mobilised 12 trucks of heavily armed soldiers for the operation, has been promptly replaced by Brig Gen Paul Zawaya, who hails from Michika Local Council in Adamawa.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri welcomed the new commander in the Government House, Yola, yesterday.

Fintiri expressed his excitement at Zawayaโ€™s appointment and urged him to redouble efforts to curb the rising crime rate in the state.

The governor tasked Zawaya with working closely with other law enforcement bodies to combat various forms of criminality in Adamawa State, particularly kidnapping.

Fintiri reiterated his commitment to working collaboratively with security outfits to ensure a crime-free environment for the citizensโ€™ well-being.

In his response, Brig Gen Paul Zawaya assured Governor Fintiri that he would spare no effort in maintaining security across the state.

Zawaya pledged to work diligently towards achieving the shared goal of a safer Adamawa, acknowledging the importance of a concerted effort from all stakeholders.
