The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced the promotion of 1,419 junior officers to various ranks, marking a significant boost in the career progression of its workforce.
According to a statement by the NCS national public relations officer, Abdulahi Maiwada, the promotion was approved during the 10th Management meeting held on November 29, 2024.
The session was presided over by the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi.
The promotion exercise included both General Duty and Support Staff officers who excelled in the 2024 evaluation process.
A total of 346 General Duty and 384 Support Staff officers were elevated from Assistant Inspector of Customs (AIC) to Inspector of Customs (IC).
Additionally, 4 General Duty and 13 Support Staff officers moved from Customs Assistant I (CAI) to Assistant Inspector of Customs (AIC).
In the lower ranks, 372 General Duty and 59 Support Staff officers were promoted from Customs Assistant II (CAII) to Customs Assistant I (CAI), while 188 General Duty and 54 Support Staff officers advanced from Customs Assistant III (CAIII) to Customs Assistant II (CAII).
Describing the promotions as a reflection of visionary leadership, Maiwada highlighted the transformative agenda of CGC Adeniyi.

Comptroller-General Adeniyi congratulated the newly promoted officers, encouraging them to remain dedicated to the Serviceโs core mandates, which include revenue generation, anti-smuggling operations, and trade facilitation.
Meanwhile, the promotion list for senior officers is still being processed and is awaiting final approval from the Nigeria Customs Service Board.
