The Niger State Government has instructed security operatives to shoot any hoodlum found carrying dangerous weapons in the streets of Minna, the state capital.

This directive was issued during a stakeholdersโ€™ meeting held at the palace of the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umar Farouk Bahago.

The chairman of Chanchaga Local Government Area, who conveyed the state governmentโ€™s decision, stated that this measure is necessary to ensure the safety of innocent citizens and allow them to carry out their daily activities without fear.

Recent reports indicate a series of attacks by hoodlums in Minna, including incidents targeting individuals on their way to tahajud prayers.

Chanchaga LGA Chairman, Ladan, reaffirmed the governmentโ€™s commitment to upholding the rights of citizens to freedom of movement and peaceful assembly.

He stated that the state would not tolerate any form of lawlessness that threatens public safety.

Musa Adamu Maikudi Achaza, the Public Relations Officer of the Minna Metro Security Watch, confirmed the implementation of the directive, stating that security forces have initiated house-to-house searches to apprehend and prosecute individuals involved in criminal activities.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, stated that the police have already made several arrests in connection with recent criminal incidents.
