The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has been granted three ISO certifications to supervise banks further and protect depositorsโ€™ investments.

In a recent statement, Bashir Nuhu, Director of Communication and Public Affairs at the NDIC, made this known.

Nuhu revealed that the Corporation received certification for Information Security Management System ISO/IEC 27001:2013, which allows it to monitor how organizations manage and protect their information assets.

He said the NDIC also received the IT Service Management System ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011 for its role in ensuring effective and resilient services and Business Continuity Management System, ISO 22301, a certification for a management system to protect against, reduce the likelihood of, and ensure businesses recover from disruptive incidents).

Nuhu explained that the certifications followed a rigorous and independent audit exercise confirming that the Corporation complies with the requirements for the three standards.

He said โ€˜The ISO is an independent, non-governmental international organization that brings together experts worldwide to develop voluntary, consensus-based, market relevant International Standards that support innovation and provide solutions to global challenges.

โ€The certification is a three-year, multi-layered process that begins with an initial certification in the first year, followed by two (2) surveillance audits throughout two (2) years.

Meanwhile, the NDIC maintains that in line with its vision to be one of the best deposit insurers in the world, it will continue to offer excellent services consistent with international standards and best practices.
