The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, says improving operational strategy management is a priority for long-term success.
The NCS Comptroller, Katsina Area Command, Mohammed Umar, states this on Tuesday during a one-day seminar in Katsina.
The NCS conducted the event in partnership with the Institute of Strategic Management Nigeria, ISMN.
The comptroller noted that any organizationโs ability to function successfully and sustainably hinges on strategic management.
He defined strategic management as purposefully charting an organizationโs path and defining its vision, mission and core values.
โThese fundamental elements serve as a compass, guiding us towards our ultimate objectives.
โI am acutely aware of the pivotal role that strategic management plays in the success and sustainability of any organization, be it in the public or private sector.
โStrategic management encompasses the process of analyzing our environment, identifying opportunities, and mitigating risks.
โTherefore, in a constantly changing world, the ability to adapt to new challenges and leverage emerging opportunities is critical,โ he said.
Umar pointed out that the NCS operated in a constantly changing international commerce environment, and that their strategy planning needed to be flexible and adaptable to such changes.
Speaking through the Registrar, Obitunde Obiyemi, the ISMN President, Alex Ndudi, stated that the importance of strategic management has never been greater in the current dynamic and fast-paced global environment.
He expressed hopes that the information shared at the seminar will not only motivate the participants but also provide them with the means to improve their strategic thinking.
