The distribution of the Federal Governmentโ€™s palliative to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal has commenced in Nasarawa State.

However, instead of the N5 billion promised by the federal government, only N2 billion had so far been given to Nasarawa State as of Wednesday, August 23, 2023.

Governor Abdullahi Sule revealed this during the flag-off of the distribution in Lafia on Tuesday, stating that the state has received an additional 3,000 bags of rice.

The governor disclosed further that the people of the state had been waiting for the palliatives pledged by President Bola Tinubuโ€˜s administration and expressed happiness that the palliatives given to the state were ready for distribution.

According to him, for effective distribution of the palliatives, the state government would visit the over 3,000 polling units across the 13 local government areas of the state to distribute bags of rice and maize to its residents.

OsunDailyNG learnt that the items distributed to residents during the flag-off ceremony include 7.5kg bags of rice, packs of spaghetti and groundnut oil, among others.

Meanwhile, former Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, has boldly come out to declare that he is available to respond to actions taken by his administration when he was in office.

The former governor said whenever the need arises, he is capable of responding to issues or allegations raised against his administration.

OsunDailyNG reports that the former Benue State governor, made this known in a statement issued by his Media Aide, Mr Terver Akase, on Wednesday in Makurdi, the state capital.

Ortom noted that โ€œI am capable of responding to the issues being raised against me and other officials of my government, and I have always made known my belief in the rule of law.

โ€œI am ready to make myself available to respond to issues bordering on my administration whenever the need arises.โ€

He also appealed to his supporters to calm down and be law-abiding, as well as not to heat up the polity, in the face of alleged provocation by the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state.

Ortom appreciated concerns expressed by different people over his alleged harassment through petitions to anti-graft agencies, as well as arrests of his appointees and impoundment of his vehicles.
