Nigerian singer Charles Chibuezechukwu, popularly known as Crayon, has said his debut album, โTrench To Triumphโ is a sonic representation of his personal experience.
He said the album follows his success story from when he was living in the ghetto with his family in a one-room โface-me-I-face-youโ apartment housing nine of them to getting signed to Mavin Records.
The โNgoziโ crooner said his mum sold fruits in a kiosk at Iyana-Iba for 19 years.
Speaking in a recent interview with Glitch Africa, Crayon said, โโTrench To Triumphโ album is my story. Itโs my reality. Itโs my substance. Itโs everything I am today. From where I came from; being born in Orile, staying in a face-me-I-face-you apartment with nine people in a room. You open your door, you see people fighting.
โMy mum used to sell fruits at Iyana-Iba for 19 straight years. It [โTrench To Triumphโ] is my story. Itโs my substance. Itโs my reality. Itโs everything to me. Now, Iโm in my triumphant era. Iโm happy about life. Life is going good. Everything is amazing.โ
