Controversial Nollywood actress, Yomi Fabiyi, has seemingly responded to her colleague, Jaiye Kuti, after criticizing veteran actors begging fans for money online.
OsunDailyNG earlier reported that Jaiye Kuti, in a video making the rounds online, expressed displeasure over the recent trend of veteran movie stars begging fans for financial support and car gifts online.
According to her, such an act is tarnishing and giving the Nollywood community bad names, and it is high time movie stars stop the trend.
She stressed that Nollywood is not a pension-based industry and that thespians are supposed to prepare for their future during their young and active years.
She further implied that some of those actors begging fans online may have recklessly wasted their earnings during their younger days.
In a post shared on Instagram, Yomi said many of the veterans begging for arms had been exploited in the past, and the recent trend should not bother anyone.
He noted that the Nollywood actorsโ decisions and choices should be respected, adding that many are suffering in silence and are likely to die disgracefully if they do not seek help.
He wrote: โIf anybody needs help and indeed comes public with his or her brand, name and face only, I donโt see why it should bother any. If you cannot find means to recover all these veteransโ losses via piracy and exploitation by capitalists, then let them breathe. We new millennium actors are a little luckier but not better.
โWe must learn to respect peopleโs decisions, choices, and actions. All man for himself. Comparison is proof of nothing. I prefer these veteransโ stars to seek charity than go into drug Trafficking, Fraud, Rituals etc just to survive their present hardship. Maybe these charity should be in a more packaged means because truth be told, MANY OLD ACTORS ARE SUFFERING IN SILENCE AND LIKELY TO DIE DISGRACEFULLY IF THEY DONโT SEEK HELP.
โLet it be clear, no matter how uncomfortable and displeased you are with someoneโs actions or decisions, if it is not against the law of the land and falls within the rights of the person, it is an outright arrogance, crime and grandeur of delusion to attempt to rubbish such person. Caveat!
โNigeria sef they beg and borrow. I HATE PRETENCE, ARROGANCE, AND FAKE LIVESโ
