The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Toyin Oke-Osayintolu, says many adolescents and young people in Nigeria lack access to essential health care services.
Oke-Osayintolu said this during her keynote address at the 23rd Biennial Conference of the Medical Womenโs Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Lagos Branch.
The eventโs topic was โInvesting in Adolescent and Young Peopleโs Health, Education, and Well-Being.โ
Adolescents in Nigeria, according to her, are a vulnerable sector of the population who encounter issues connected to their overall well-being, such as poverty, discrimination, violence, abuse, and exploitation.
She said that these have a substantial impact on their emotional and physical health.
โThe Ministry of Youth and Social Development has continued to provide an enabling environment for youths,โ she said.
