North London club, Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of former Shakhtar Donetsk player, Manor Solomon.
Manor Solomon and the Premier League club agreed to a five-year deal even though his Ukrainian club, Shakhtar Donetsk, is said not to be happy about the deal.
Recall that Solomon left the Ukrainian club for Premier League club, Fulham on loan in the 2022-2023 season after he took advantage of FIFAโs proclamation.
The proclamation was that players contracted to clubs in Ukraine and Russia can choose to suspend their contracts due to the ongoing war between the two countries. The rule is applicable to players who are not citizens of the two countries.
But Shakhtar Donetsk were expecting that Manor Solomon would return to the club after the expiration of his loan deal with Fulham or Tottenham Hotspur would negotiate the transfer fee with the Ukrainian club.
However, Solomon was seen as a player without a club after his loan deal expired at Fulham. Hence, the North London side signed him on a free transfer.
Before the 23-year-old Israeli winger completed his move to Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday, July 11, the fast-rising star made 24 appearances for Fulham in which he scored five goals.
His effort helped Fulham to finish the 2022-2023 Premier League season in 10th place. Even though the club tried to keep him, he decided to leave for a more competitive club.
Manor Solomon has made 35 appearances for Israel since he made his debut for the country in 2018. He has scored seven goals so far in his international career.
He is Tottenhamโs fourth summer addition after English midfielder James Maddison, winger Dejan Kulusevski, and goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.
