Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy said he had slept with over 10,000 women, a lawyer for the prosecution, Benjamin Aina, has told jurors at the Chester Crown Court, UK, during the playerโs ongoing re-trial case on two rape-related charges.
Opening the trial, Mr Aina testified the footballer told a girl whom the World Cup winner met at a UK bar, โItโs fine, Iโve had sex with 10,000 women,โ when he allegedly raped her in his room.
The France international is on trial for one rape charge and an attempted rape charge.
In January, the 29-year-old who last featured for Man City in August 2021 was found not guilty of seven counts of charges of rape, kidnapping and sexual assault by Judge Steven Everett of the same court.
However, the jurors could not reach a verdict on one count of rape and attempted rape of two women. Matthew Conway, representing the prosecution, sought for re-trial on those two charges, which eventually began earlier this week.
The footballer denies both charges.
Mr Mendy is accused of attacking an unnamed woman aged 24 at his home in Mottram St Andrew, Cheshire, in October 2020 and another 29-year-old woman the player attacked and attempted to rape in the same house two years earlier.
