Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo and Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Barrister Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli have expressed shock over the demise of the Grand Mufti of Ibadanland, Sheikh Abdulfatai Alaga.
The duo made this declaration in separate press statements made available to OsunDailyNG.
Our correspondent recalls that Alaga died in the early hours of Tuesday at the age of 80.
Makinde, in a statement made available to OsunDailyNG on Tuesday, sympathised with the immediate family of the Grand Mufti.
He said, โI received the news of the death of the Grand Mufti of Ibadanland, Sheik Abdulfatai Alaga, this morning.
โI express my condolences to the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheik Abdulganiyu Agbotomokekere and the Muslim Ummah in Ibadanland on the death of Alfa Agba.
โI equally commiserate with his immediate family and pray to Allah SWT to grant him Aljanah Firdausiโ.
Alli in his own statement made available to OsunDailyNG on Tuesday, expressed heartfelt condolences to the family and Muslim community.
The lawmaker in the statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Akeem Abas, described Alagaโs demise as a great loss to his family, as well as the entire Muslim community in Ibadan and beyond.
The lawmaker said, โIt is with deep sadness and heavy heart that I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family and the Muslim community over the passing of the Grand Mufti of Ibadanland, Sheikh Abdulfatai Alaga.
โHis demise is a great loss not only to his family but also to the entire Muslim community in Ibadan and beyondโ.
