Udinese goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye issued a heartfelt apology to the club following his calamitous errors in their recent 3-2 defeat to Inter Milan during a Serie A matchday six fixture at the Bluenergy StadiumโStadio Friuli.
Maduka Okoye, 25, who has been a standout performer for the Italian club since becoming their first-choice goalkeeper last season, experienced a challenging outing as his mistakes contributed to his teamโs home loss to the reigning champions.
The match saw Davide Frattesi open the scoring in the 16th minute, with Okoye shouldering some responsibility for his mistimed actions, which allowed the opposing midfielder to give Inter Milan the lead.
Although the home side managed to equalize in the 35th minute, Okoyeโs performance took a further downturn just before the end of the first half, as he committed another error that led to Lautaro Martรญnez putting the visitors ahead for the second time.
Ultimately, the game ended 3-2 in favour of Simone Inzaghiโs men, prompting Maduka Okoye to take to his Instagram page to express his sincere apologies to Udinese fans.
The goalkeeper, whose strong connection with the clubโs supporters remains unwavering, simply posted โSorryโ, as he acknowledged his subpar performance.
Adding to the challenges of the match, Okoyeโs errors occurred shortly after the public announcement of the end of his four-year relationship with his long-time girlfriend and Dutch model, Jelicia Westhoff.
Despite these personal difficulties, Okoye will aim to make amends for his mistakes as Udinese prepare to face Lecce in their upcoming league game on Saturday.
