Long queues of cars, commercial buses, tricycles and motorcycles at petroleum stations have returned to Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

DAILY POST reports that this is due to the scarcity of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) the ancient city is currently experiencing.

Our correspondent reports that Ibadan has been witnessing a shortage of PMS since Sunday.

DAILY POST correspondent who went round some parts of Ibadan, observed that some petroleum stations have shut their gates against prospective customers since Sunday.

Some of the areas visited by DAILY POST correspondent included Olodo, Monatan, Iyana Church, Iwo Road, Agodi gate.

Others are Mokola, Dugbe, Iyaganku, Bodija, Sango and Apete.

Our correspondent reports that majority of the petroleum stations that belonged to independent marketers have been shut down, while only few of them that opened for business have increased their pump prices.

It was gathered that petroleum stations that belonged to major marketers and are still maintaining their pump prices are currently experiencing long queues.

A commercial motorcycle driver, who identified himself as Sola, told DAILY POST on Tuesday, that the city has been witnessing scarcity of PMS since Sunday.

He said, โ€œWe donโ€™t know if they still want to increase the price. You have to queue now, unlike before, when you go in and come out immediately. It is a long queue now. Some of them have increased their pump price to N630 from N680.โ€

A driver in one of the companies in Iyagankuarea,a who identified himself as Adeniyi, said that the city has been witnessing a scarcity of commercial buses since it became difficult to buy the commodity.

โ€œIt is not easy to find commercial buses now. I arrived at my place of work late today because I could not find a cab on timeโ€.

A tricyclist who spoke with DAILY POST Tuesday evening said that he bought the commodity at the rate of N620 after spending hours in search of the commodity.

โ€œI bought it at the rate of N620 this evening. I have been looking for fuel since morning until I bought it at the rate of N620 this evening.โ€
