A brother to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, Kanunta Kanu has reacted to the ruling of the Court of Appeal on Thursday.
OsunDaily News had earlier reported that the Appeal Court sitting in Abuja on Thursday discharged the charges levelled against Kanu by the Federal Government.
The Federal Government had levelled terrorism charges against the IPOB leader.
A three-judge panel of the appellate court in their judgement ruled that Kanu was illegally extradited from Kenya by Nigerian agents in a process known internationally as extraordinary rendition, which rights experts define as an abduction.
The judges noted that the Federal Government can not charge Kanu with terrorism until federal authorities explained how they moved him from Nairobi to Abuja in June 2022.
Kanunta while reacting to the court ruling in a post on his Twitter account on Friday said there is jubilation even in the land of the dead following the ruling.
He wrote, “#MaziNnamdiKanu has been discharged by the Court of Appeal, based on the Extra Ordinary rendition.
“Even in the land of the dead, there’s a jubilation going on there.
“The Appeal Court further held that based on the Extra Ordinary Rendition, there was no charge against the Appellant #MaziNnamdiKanu.
“No court would have extradited #MNK. That was @GovNigeria therefore resorted to criminal activity. @UN @StateDept @EU_Commission @FCDOGovUK @BBC”
