Idowu Owohunwa, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, on Thursday, paid a visit to Al-Hassan Usman, a motorcyclist, who was brutalised by police officers.ย
Police spokesman in Lagos, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a series of tweets on Thursday, said the commissioner visited the victim in a market.
Mr Hundeyin said that disciplinary measures will be taken against the police officers involved in the assault.ย

โThe CP, who condemned the excessive use of force by the policemen in enforcing the existing ban on use of motorcycles in certain parts of Lagos State, has assured members of the public that the disciplinary measures already initiated against the men would be brought to a logical conclusion and the outcome made public.ย
โThe Command will continue to ensure that the rule of law is upheld, while not relenting in enforcing the laws of the land.โ
Recently, footage of police officers assaulting a commercial motorcyclist in Abule-Egba areaย of Lagos circulated on social media.ย
The video showed three police officers assaulting the young man, one of the officers hit the motorcyclist with a baseball bat while another officer forcefully pushed him away in order to take his motorcycle.ย
One of the police officers rode the motorcycle away while the others followed behind in a tricycle leaving the young man injured and bleeding.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said that the officers have been identified and necessary action will be taken over their unprofessional conduct.ย
