Residents of Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, have expressed their frustration over poor power supply and high electricity bills.

The residents of the area have planned to stage a peaceful protest at the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, office along Makurdi road.

The decision to protest comes on the heels of an incident where a staff member of AEDC was reportedly assaulted while attempting to disconnect power supply to a neighbourhood.

OsunDailyNG had reported that a confrontation ensued between residents and workers of the DisCo on Thursday afternoon in a neighborhood in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State.

The organisers of the protest have called on residents to join them in demanding solutions to the townโ€™s power crisis and fair treatment in billing.

โ€œWe are fed up. We believe itโ€™s time for change, and we need your voice to make it happen.

โ€œYour presence matters. Together, we can illuminate the path to a brighter future for our town,โ€ the organisers stated in a notice made available to journalists.

The protest, scheduled for Tuesday, February 20, aims to draw attention to the challenges faced by residents and to advocate for improved services from the electricity distribution company.
