Many offices of the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission, KWSIEC, are not in good shape for the conduct of a credible elections, DAILY POST reports.
The Chairman of KWSIEC, Okanla Baba, disclosed this during an on the spot assessment of the Commissionโs offices across the 16 local government areas of the state, which ended this week.
The tour by the chairman and members of the electoral body is part of the Commissionโs strategic planning process for the conduct of credible local council elections in the state.
According to Okanla, the tour was aimed at assessing the appropriateness of the location of the Commissionโs facilities in line with the extant law, regulations and standard electoral procedures.
He however, lamented that โmany of the KWSIEC offices visited across the 16 local government areas, weโre not in good condition for operations of the commission and required to be put in good shape for credible pollsโ
During interactive sessions with staff of KWSIEC at the various LGAs, Okanla assured that the Commissionโs offices would soon witness comprehensive renovation.
He added that offices would be put in place where there are none, to aid the conduct of a popular and credible elections across the 16 LGAs.
Okanla and his team had earlier visited the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, office in Abuja to solicit the support of the national electoral body.
