The 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has appreciated the leaders of the party for their visit to his Abuja residence.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), accompanied by photos, the NNPP National leader commended the partyโs chairmen and the NEC members for their continued efforts in upholding the partyโs principles.
Kwankwaso gave the commendation when he received the partyโs state chairmen and members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) at his Abuja residence on Tuesday.
He wrote: โEarlier today, I received all state party chairmen of our party, the NNPP, alongside other top officials of the party, on a homage at my residence in Abuja. Iโm thankful for the visit. And I commend them for their continued efforts in upholding the partyโs principles.โ
OsunDailyNG reports that this comes after a group led by a founding party member, Boniface Aniebonam and the National Publicity Secretary, Agbo Major, suspended Kwankwaso at a Special General Assembly held in Lagos State on Tuesday.
The group alleged that material evidence in public showed that the former Kano State governor was involved in โโanti-party activities and was meeting with other presidential candidates.
However, the NNPP said the suspension of Kwankwaso is โnull and voidโ, expelling several party chieftains, including Dr Boniface Aniebonam and Agbo Major, who spearheaded the suspension.
