The Kogi State Police Command on Friday said bandits terrorizing the Lokoja/Ajaokuta road have been dislodged by security forces.
DAILY POST reports that on Thursday afternoon, some bandits took over Lokoja/Ajaokuta road in a bid to abduct motorists and passengers travelling on the route.
Kogi State Command Public Relations Officer SP William Ovye Ayah said the incident happened on Thursday at about 3:00 pm.
According to him, passengers travelling along Lokoja/Ajaokuta road were hinted by a good Samaritan that some bandits have taken over the road waiting to kidnap travellers.
He said the travellers quickly moved to to the closest town to avoid being kidnapped and made a distress call to the Police Command.
When the information got to Command, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Bethrand Onuoha, quickly dispatch Rapid Response Unit to the area who subsequently dislodged the criminals.
He further disclosed that no passenger was kidnapped due to the quick response of the unit, adding that the road was finally opened for motorists.
