Ahead of Saturdayโs governorship election, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has deployed its operatives to Kogi, Imo, and Bayelsa states.
EFCCโs spokesman, Dele Oyewale, stated that agents of the anti-graft agency would be in the states to monitor Saturdayโs governorship election. Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Friday, Oyewale said the deployment aimed to checkmate vote buying, selling, and other forms of electoral fraud.
Oyewale emphasized that the monitoring team sent to the three states would also address any attempts to manipulate the electoral processes, which would be in violation of the Electoral Act.
He said, โIn its efforts to curb electoral fraud and associated financial crimes, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has deployed its officers to Kogi, Bayelsa, and Imo States, where governorship elections are scheduled for Saturday, November 11, 2023.
โThe Commissionโs monitoring operations aim to address any form of voter inducement through vote buying, vote selling, and other manipulations of the electoral processes that contravene the Electoral Act.โ
