The Social Democratic Party, (SDP) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress,(APC) of importing thugs from Jigawa and Nasarawa states to unleash violence in Kogi ahead of the November 11 governorship election.

Addressing a press conference in Lokoja on Tuesday, the Director Communications of the Muritala Yakubu Ajaka Gubernatorial Campaign Organisation, Faruk Adejo-Audu, noted that the APC is already intimidating the electorate before the election.

Audu lamented that several SDP supporters have been attacked across the state, adding that the party has passed a vote of no confidence on the Kogi State Commissioner of Police
Berthrand Onuoha.

He alleged that the police chief will be not be fair to all in the forthcoming election.

The SDP chieftain said, โ€œThe APC have imported military hardwares, thugs from Jigawa, Toto in Nasarawa State, to cause chaos in Kogi.

โ€ It has never happened in Kogi State that two governorship candidates ,Leke Abejide and Muri Ajaka, went to get a court order to allow them campaign. They are doing this just because they donโ€™t want to be arrested by the APC led government and later arraigned in court.

โ€œSDP wants the world to know that 21 convicts sentenced for various electoral offences have been released by Gov. Bello. Whenever election is coming under Belloโ€™s government, there is always fear and apprehension.

โ€œ21 persons sentenced for various degrees of electoral offences were released by Bello. Okwo recently killed was released by Bello. Why is Kogi under Bello when election is coming, there will be fear and apprehension?โ€

Also speaking at the press briefing, the Chairman Muri/Sam campaign, Kogi East, Alhaji Hassan Yakubu Enape, faulted the Kogi State Police Command for saying that it was not aware of the SDP rally in Koton Karfe which led to the death of a party supporter.

Enepe explained that the party applied to the Police before holding the rally.

He said the application was acknowledged and approved.
